MOLLOY Family History
The Irish surname Molloy originates from the Gaelic "O'Maolmhuidh" which means "descendent of the great". The original family were descendents of the 400AD High King of Ireland.Select Audience

Hello. Iโm trying to get information on the Molloy family from County Kilkenny. My great great grandfather, John Molloy was born in 1808 and married Ellen Raftis in Thomastown (Ballyconway) in 1838. They had 3 children and came to Chicago in 1856. Any info about Johnโs family would be appreciated.

I'm trying to find birth record and family members of John Molloy from the Killala area of Mayo. John married Maria Nealon in 1853. They had several children and several emigrated to the US. Any information on John's parents or siblings would be greatly appreciated.

My grandad was William Patrick Molloy, born 1898 in Birr, Offaly. His siblings were, Bridget, Mary-Ellen, Julia, Patricia, Catherine, Margaret, James and five who didn't survive childhood. His parents, my great-grandparents were James Michael Molloy (b1853) married Mary-Anne Quirk. Next, back Patrick Molloy who married Mary Halloran, next back to 1820ish was Thomas Patrick Molloy and before him another Patrick Molloy b 1797. All these were from Birr to the best of my knowledge. Alongside all these fine Molloy's I have details of eighteen siblings, namely great great uncles and aunts.
I have stuck a little history up on www.mogsie.co.uk

I'm David Molloy from Adelaide, South Australia. I'm researching my great, great, great ?grandfather Michael Molloy who married Mary Gleeson. They lived in Ballyknavin, Clare and moved to Australia in 1852.
Michael shared a farm with his brother James and I'm sure their sister Mary lived there as well. There is a Mary Molloy listed as dying in Clonlara in 1874 aged 76 so I'm thinking that could have been their mother. It would be great if i could find out any information ab?out Michael's father and mother etc
